During the Teaching and Learning Inspiration Days on July 4th, the very first UU Team Award was presented. The winning team was CHARM-EU, for the project focused on the CHARM-EU Master's program in Global Challenges for Sustainability.

CHARM-EU: Innovative Educational Concept

Prof. Niels Bovenschen (coordinator of the CHARM-EU course "Health Challenges & Solutions") said: "I am very happy and proud that the CHARM-EU Master's program and the team involved are receiving this recognition after years of hard work. The CHARM-EU Master's program is particularly innovative because it involves simultaneous collaboration between different European universities. UMC Utrecht is also participating in this.

In our course, we have students with different disciplinary backgrounds and nationalities conducting research together at various locations across Europe at the same time. Together with lecturers, researchers, medical specialists, patients, and societal partners, they work on complex global challenges, such as sustainability and healthcare. In my view, this is the future of higher education."

Further Development with the UU Team Award

The CHARM-EU team will receive support with the UU Team Award to further develop the proposal. This will enable them to submit the proposal on behalf of Utrecht University in January 2024 for the Dutch Education Prize. This prize is awarded to an educational team that has achieved significant impact for students, teachers, or the educational field through innovation.

Additionally, the team wins one thousand euros with the UU Team Award to spend on a team activity, workshop, or training of their choice.
