Michael Schakelaar MSc

Michael Y. Schakelaar is a PhD candidate at University Medical Center (UMC) Utrecht (Utrecht University) in the Netherlands. In 2022, he obtained his MSc degree in Biomedical Sciences (cum laude) from Utrecht University. Since September 2022, he has been working towards completing a hybrid PhD, comprising 50% biomedical research into immunotherapy in medulloblastoma, and 50% educational research into academic skill development. Currently, Michael is coordinator of large scale, authentic research-based practicals for multiple undergraduate programs within Utrecht University and co-coordinator of the interdisciplinary course ‘Pathology’. To date, he has supervised >12 BSc and MSc student internships. In 2023, Michael won the ANJA-Award for patient participation of UMC Utrecht.
